Top Tips for Great Wedding Photography

Consider what your photography priorities are.   Are they gorgeous couple shots, naturally capturing the story of the day, or photographing your family and friends?   A good photographer will ask, but make sure your photographer knows your priorities.

Good photography takes time. Ask your photographer how much time she (or he) recommends to achieve your priorities.

Consider limiting group shots to 6-8 photographs taking 10-15 minutes. It will mean you and your guests can get on with enjoying your wedding, and will ensure that you get the family arrangements which are truly important to you.

For group shots, appoint a bridesmaid or groomsman to gather people rather than having the photographer call names.

Let your photographer choose the location for your photographs. Your photographer knows what makes a good image.   At ktb we look for simple backgrounds, reflections, architectural framing, and gorgeous available light.

Relax and have fun. Your photographer will be working hard to capture your day, so just relax and enjoy it. To the extent you are relaxed and not self-conscious about the photography, it will really show through in your wedding photographs.
